New to the focus world

Hey guys, I'm a Honda guy who recently bought a 2004 Focus ZX5 2.3L (ironically from a honda dealership) with around 65k miles. Can any owners of the same type of car tell me what I should watch out for maitenence wise and general stuff like which tires you guys prefer (the dealership ones suck) and what oil and coolant to use. I'm pretty tech suave but this is my first ford. Cheers

First off welcome to the Bright side(Ha ha, get it, we're the good side, so, bright is the opposite of dark, .............no.......nevermind).Lol. I'm not sure if the 2.3L had any real common issues. I'd try just browsing the forum. Everyone's not going to give you a straight answer on tires. I don't think if you asked any 10 groups of 50 people you'd ever end up with the same straight answer. I for instince like Kumho. But I bet in a hour or so someone will come in here and tell you otherwise. I can't help you on the fluids either as I own a 2.0L, but try searching and you'll find tons of info.

just use motorcraft oil for the car. as for coolant, im sure prestone is fine. and congrats on the purchase of a gem. a 04 2.3l is rare. a couple basic mods and its up there with the svtf. and what kind of tires do u want? an all season tire or a performance summer tire?

AMSoil 0w-20 for the oil (you can use 5w-20, 0w-30, or 5w-30), but for the most part - find a good synthetic oil and stick with it along with a good filter (spend the extra cash for the filter). If yours has the Ford gold coolant, use that, everything else does not mix well with it. For tires, I am partial to B. F. Goodrich tires, but the Pirellis that came on my 08 are pretty descent.

Welcome to FF! That 2.3L 04 is def a rarity! Pics are required! They mod very nicely with some bolt ons, or if you want to go all out, FocusSport has a duratec turbo kit available that sees very nice gains.

Tires, I like BFG G-Force Sports. I get 30k miles with me beating the crap out of them (no burn outs). For oil, I use 5w-20 Motorcraft and a Motorcraft filter.
