well, looks to be an SPI, they are only an 8 valve motor SOHC, not the best platform for modding, but if you want it for a daily driver, nothing wrong w/ that. see if you can pull up the maintenance records from it and how much do they want?

im interested in it for a daily driver. They are asking $2750 but i may be able to get them down to $2300 or lower.

How would i go about pulling up the maintenance records. I am very interested in knowing if anything has been replaced i.e. clutch or tranny.

DAMN YOU

well he's right about that, but I've got an SPI and I love it.........y'know, it's still pretty peppy for only being 110 hp......

lemme give it a look

WTF.......... under $3000????? jeez I guess the economy really did kill them. I got mine in July for $4,650...... put well more into it in mods and the initial repairs now......

and you would go about pulling up maintenance records (well, slightly.....) with a carfax report, which would hopefully say if and what kinda service has been done when....... unfortunately mine didn't say anything cept "serviced" on a certain date, but still......

alright I took a look at it and mlb sir you are wrong........ it is a Zetec, and I know because of the stick shift. The boot is way higher up on there and it has that little thing you pull up on to put it in reverse......indicating an MTX75 tranny, and also a Zetec, because SPI's are just failed with an IB5 tranny......

like the sport wheels and I'm a little disappointed they didn't take a picture of the taillights, but I think I know what they look like and they don't look too bad.....nice looking rims, they're not stock, and also looks like they got the clear turn signals on the side of the car (a nice clean, euro look ) I'd say if everything checks out, you'll be happy with it. best of luck......

yeah it's pretty damn stupid...... but then again I think the best thing to do is set up a date with them and ask them if they have the records or if they know what's been done to it..... looks like they take good care of it, and they're not one of those "ricers" that makes everything look awful.......so yeah. like I said, if they're the original owners, ask them how it's been for em and such.... but don't count on them to be completely honest with you if something big is about to go out or had been replaced.......take a nice long test drive, lol. if I knew my foci had an SPI, I wouldn't have bought it but yeah.... just in my opinion that would be the best way.....

I was going off the gauge cluster, it doesn't have a tach, thats why i thought it was an spi. all zetecs had tachs in 00 and if i'm not mistaken, the only model a spi came in was the LX or SE, not sure on that though. but either way, for that price, thats a steal, does it come w/ a clean title???

yeah mine doesn't have a tach and it's stupid, lol...... but I've seen some zetecs without it as well, but no ZX3's without em. Yes, only the LX and SE had the option for an SPI, but also had the option for Zetec........ but yeah that is one hell of a deal, so like you said, just hope that it's got a clean title.....
