Testing a MAF sensor

So, I know that this is technical in nature, but its not Focus related, so I put it here. Mods can move it if they feel fit.

I need to find out if its possible to test the MAF on a 2002 Ford Windstar with the 3.8l engine. The Haynes guide doesn't show the right kind of connector it seems. My Dad's Windstar is throwing a code that says it could be one of several things, including the MAF. But at over 100 bux for a new MAF, its not a cheap "throw the part at it and see if it fixes it"
