New Fiesta 5-door

Saw the new Fiesta 5-door hatch at the L.A. Auto Show today. Car was on a turntable. No nameplates on it whatsoever, but the Ford guy there said that's what it was; said it will come out in the Spring of 2010 (or was that 2009......?)

It doesn't look much smaller than a Focus 5-door. And we're talking light years ahead of even the current Focus as far as styling and features.
This will be worth the wait.
UPDATE:
I didn't have a camera with me, but here's a photo of it courtesy of Vince Burlapp's site posted this morning. Car at L.A. was identical except for the color.

While there, I also sat in a '09 Focus SEL - a loaded one, that stickered for $21K. I must say that the interior is much 'richer' than I thought it would be. Leather seats were far more comfortable than my leather seats, and actually felt like leather, which mine don't. Doors closed with a much more solid feel and sound, not like my tin can doors.

I've test-sat one (showroom piece, no driving about in a building filled with Mondeos) and trust me, it's smaller than a Focus hatchback. On the inside, I'd say it's spacious enough for four or maybe five of my size (172cm/5'8" tall) but people some 10cm/4" taller would be struggling with the head room. The trunk isn't overly large either compared to the Focus, but it's not overly tiny either.

Like all Fords sold in Europe, the Fiesta's interior seemed well screwed together, with the blend of expensive and cheap plastics you'd find in the Focus. However, the interior looked more modern and dynamic, with bold colours and the opinion-diving centre console. Personally, I liked it... a lot, in fact. I guess you'd appreciate some change when you've lived with the grey blandness of your dad's Escort and more of the same, with an added console made of pretentious artifical wood.

I agree, the Fiesta looks better than its rivals and I suspect it'll keep kicking the hell out of its competition in Europe.

The only thing that thing needs are bigger wheels. But it looks good nonetheless.
