sadness :\

I dont know whats going on with my focus but its making me sad. i miss it. now out of nowhere its engine light is always on and the other night it wouldnt decellerate at all and the power stearing went out. im not going to give up on the focus, its just too fun of a car. but im feeling like im about to give up on this one. if they dont fix it right this time im gonna look at trading it in for a manual. plus the dealership is giving me all this crap about it not being stock. if the focus wasnt a good car to mod then why would ford be making aftermarket parts for it? arg oh well. just thought i'd vent.

Dude, sorry to say, the dealer is absolutely correct. You mod the car and it stops running right. Even if the dealer knows exactly what you have modded, he cannot know how these changes affect what the computer sees and what it is trying to do. (That kind of knowledge requires an engineer from Ford.) The dealer's fancy diagnostic tool is only good for the stock setup, too. Modders everywhere, just expect the dealer to give you crap if your car isn't running right.

In my career (I design automotive tools) I am in regular contact with a fairly large number of auto techs, and I can tell you they detest modded cars because they are unable to scan them correctly and without that data they can't fix them. It's frustrating and I don't blame them one bit.

I doubt this has anything to do with your power steering, but I am sure it is related to your check engine light.

The best thing you could do is return your car to bone stock before you bring it to the dealer.

sounds like fair advice but not something we want to hear!!!! Still, it shouldn't be losing power steering...

As much as I love my car, three weeks ago, I convinced my ford dealer that my car was as lemon and that I wasn't putting up with it any longer. The car had been in for 9 different service issues in one year, one of which was the power steering pump going, another bc of the engine light being on and the car dyin on the highway. Don't let them walk all over you. In the end, I left the dealer that night with a new ZX5, I'm giving the car another shot bc like you said, they are too much fun to drive :) Good luck and don't give up.

i sure hope so. i drove it tonight. and i dont think that there is anything wrong with the engine itself. i just think the computer is telling the engine/trans to do something wrong but doesnt realize it is. i could tell that the tranny is ****ed up though. prolly that time that the car turned off and on 6 times on the freeway in a row.....durrr. thats just a guess though. it might also need a new starter cause its starting reeeeeally crappy.
