Post Replacement parts for 10 years?

Does anybody have any info on the law that says car manufacturers must make replacement parts for at least 10 years after the model was discontinued?

I've been trying to find some concrete information, no luck yet.

Mike at Hilbish Ford would know this. Shoot him a PM, or wait and see if he pops in.

Good, I'm not making this up. Now I need some place where I can see it written, so I can bring it to my local dealership.
I was going to buy one part at my local dealership.
And sales guy was like this part is discontinued.
I: There is a law that says parts must be made for at least 10yrs
Sales: no there no such law.
I: Are you sure?
Sales: yes I'm 100% sure.

What part could possibly be discontinued for your 05 Focus? I drive an 07 which is mechanically identical, so this worries me.

The part for that so call year could be discontinued. It could be a under a new part number. Alot of time I have found that they don't want to cross refernce a part number.

All deals with the person looking at the computer screen.

I have dealt with this at dealers and auto stores.

It's the green ring around power outlet that came on models 00-04. I bought it and it cracked on me after about 3 month, so I went to get a new one.
