storing the focus for the winter

Hey all, I have a 2007 focus zx5 with a few mods, anyways I just got on with a police service in Canada and I have to head out to Saskathewan for 6 months of training. The car is staying at my folk's house in the garage, I have never stored a car for the winter so I have a few questions.

1) Anything that should be done (i.e, starting the car up every two weeks)

2) Since it is under warranty Ford needs certain things done ever X amount of km's or X amount of months. Despite not driving it should the oil still be changed and regular maintenance be done?

Anything else you guys could suggest would be great.

Thanks

1. Full tank off gas with fuel stabilizer.
2. If you have a block heater, keep it plugged in.
3. Let the car run once a week for a few minutes.
4. Maintain your regular scheduled maintainance routine.

Battery tender to keep it charged.

If it is started periodically, make sure it's warmed way up to evaporate any condensation in the exhaust pipe (this used to be more important before SS exhaust systems were common) and to properly warm the oil.

You may want to consider putting it up on blocks to keep the tires from seeing the same flat spot for that duration.

If you put a cover on it, make sure it doesn't trap moisture and mar the paint.

If you park it outside, oh I shudder to think.

nope it is going to be parked inside an insulated garage, which is kinda sweet that it wont see a winter, So if I start my car once a week I should be good?

Change the oil and filter.
Put in fuel stabilizer and top up the fuel tank.
Park the car.
Disconnect the negative lead from the battery.

It's not like it's going to be outdoors with no protection. Don't waste time or electricity with the block heater. The garage may not be heated, but there is no harm in letting the car cool down. If you were parking for a few years the tires may develop a flat spot. Parked for a few months they will be fine.

That should be fine, just let her warm all the way up.

Leave the parking brake off. Leaving it on for that amount of time could stretch out the cable and ruin it.
