Hard start in the morning

I have a 2001 Focus an I am havin troubles with the starting in the morning.(cold or warm days ...but especially hard in cold days).
I have cleaned the IACV, the throttle, changed the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs ... and cheked everything around these(leaks and other stuffs). Nothing helped. If the car sits 12-14 hours then it has a hard start ... meaning that I have to keep the key for longer .... after that first hard start everithing is normal, no problem for the rest of the day.
I think is something with the fuel system ...some oring or pressure regulator or something like that... nut I do not know exactly what to look for.
Thanks for your help

This is a long shot, but what kind of oil are you using?

How dose it crank when you first start it? Is it a slow crank, or fast? How is the battery? My 08 SE when it is cold cranks slower then when it is warm, generally most cars are like this. How is the compression? How many miles? You may need to get it scanned at the dealer, they can check crank and cam sensors. Starter may be getting tired.

at the start the crank seems slower, the battery seems ok it shows 12.1 V with the engine off and the key on II position, the compresion i don't know(how can i find how is it?) 60.000 miles. Its been tested about 2 months ago on a wds system and all seemd ok(i had the slow crank even then)
I am using Aral 5W40 .. I know Ford recomends 5W30 but this is how i got the car!

WOW, this is your problem. First of all, ford recommends 5w-20. Some people do use a 5w-30, but i think 5w-40 is a bit pushing it. Try 5w-30 next oil change.

That's my 2 cents.

I use 5w-30 and in the morning it takes a bit longer to crank rather than with 5w-20...

Yup, I would venture to say 40 weight oil is too much for cold starts!!! I have trouble in houghton w/ 30 weight oil all the time, but it eventually goes. 40 weight would be too much.

I am from Europe :) and here the recomandation given by ford is 5W30 and 5W40 is one step up from that recomandation.
I am thinking in changing the oil to 5W30.

I have a similar problem, but mine does it in warm/cold and only when it hasn't been started in about 6 or more hours. I've done some research on it, and I believe its my fuel pump, because it doesn't exactly whine like a normal ford fuel pump will. So, when I go to install my turbo, I'll most likely replace. I've never thought about it until now, you could to a local garage and put in on a fuel pressure tester, and see what the pressure is when your cranking it.
