Oil Change....when???

We have an 08 Focus SES. Sweet ride. My dealer said first oild change 7000-7500 miles. Whats up with that? What ever happened to the 3000 mile rule? Is 7000 really safe? Or should I still do it at 3000? I am assuming it is because of Synthetic oil. If you use Synthetic, you can go 7000 but if you use regular you should change at 3000? Any help?

Check your owner's manual, you will find that the oil change intervals are every 7500 miles. I am working on my third at 21,000 miles. I was a little early on the first one and lat on the second, so I need to do it again to get it back on track.

Usually you don't start using Synthetic until the engine is fully broken in. Maybe they've started putting it in from the factory.

you do not need to change every 3k miles. It depends on your driving habits and such. I change around every 5-6 but i do not do a ton of driving.

I did my first oil change at 2,200..OIL is cheap, I refilled with oil from the dealer...5w20 motorcraft stuff. I ran that till about 6,000 and then switched to a synthetic.. Oil is cheap, if you are concerned, change it now. Why not? Always do the filter with the oil...Who gets out of the shower and puts on dirty underwear?
