Trading my sedan with another's zx3??

Hi, I just found 02 zx3 owner who wants to trade with 4 door cars(for family use).

I have 01 lx sedan(automatic), and it seems like he is interested in trading his car and mine.

I was also looking for zx3 with manual transmission, so it is kinda deal that both wants.

I looked at the zx3 today, and it was kinda messy(since they have a baby) inside, and front bumper is broken about 2 inches, and also little dents on the side and back. It hasn't been any accidents according to the owner.( But it looked like....at least very minor accident) My friend drove the car today and he said it seems fine.

My car is really in good shape. I cleaned it regulary and also took it to Ford dealership for scheduled maintenance. It has some key scratches, but otherwise it is free of any problem.

Option wise, this zx3 is better equiped. It has fog lights and cruise which my car don't have.

If I and he make this deal, it is going to be just vehicle to vehicle trade. No one pay another extra bucks(might be little).

I know I am gonna lose big money if I trade-in my car to dealership, so I thought this deal could be nice. What worries me is mostly about the condition of the car. I don't wanna lose big money on fixing cars either.

How do you think about this deal? Is there something I should be careful when I trade my car with another's car??

clutch will be one problem you have to look at...
compression test and the frame...

Well, either I nor my friend know well about car, and that is what worries me. The mileage of the zx3 was about 96000, and mine is about 100300. I was told it is expensive to replace the clutch, so asked my friend who drove the zx3 today, but he didn't know much about it.

mine is 95k and it is about out...
like less than half life...
so watch out for it...

clutch... you have to drop the engine a bit and put in the clutch...
which is kinda expensive...

to test the clutch...
i think... just drive to a flat parking lot...
and the slowly let go the clutch until it engage and move forward slowly...
new clutch engage really early...
and oil clutch of coz... engage later...
and try to launch the car and see if you can launch it with power...

okay number one the grammer in this thread is horrible. Number two a good way to test the clutch is put the car in 5th gear and try to take off as if it is in 1st. The car stalls out, you are good. The clutch starts slipping, bad news.
i would maybe ask for a couple hundred for the body work since yours seems to be in better condition, but otherwise seems like a good deal to me. Make sure you check the breaks and tires and stuff like that to see that they are all good.

Run a carfax, ^^^^ never heard that as a way to check it, but it makes alot of sense. For the interior a good 25 dollar detail will take care of that. The bumpers, you can find left and right probably. But I would def run a carfax.

Sorry, I know my grammer is horrible, but English isn't my first language....

If it fails the test you said, does that mean the clutch needs to be replaced right away???

not your first language...
where are you from bro...

well... if the tire and break are bad shape...
maybe you can swap yours own break and tire, you know...
just the the bumper...
swap the bumper with the fog light grill and the fog light itself...
just have to repaint it if you like... or when you have money...
anything else should be fine...

can you explain why that is the way to check clutch?
I just want to learn more stuff about car, not questioning...
because it does make sense to me about how the clutch engage...
