Traded Focus

I traded the '07 ZX4 SES a few weeks ago. I wanted something that looked a little sporty, in a 2 door this time. I tried to like the styling of the Focus coupe, but ended up getting an '08 Pontiac G5 GT in Red Tintcoat. The pluses on the G5 were that it had the HO 2.4 Ecotec with 171 hp, 4 wheel disc brakes, 17" wheels, more color options than Focus SES, automatic transmission was only 1 mpg less that 5-speed highway, dynamic stability control, message center tells you tire pressure in each individual tire, employee pricing and OnStar. Vehicle has every option possible including factory remote start, which I believe is dealer installed on the Focus. (A friend of mine has an '07 Focus and had the remote start dealer installed and has has some electrical problems with it)

One other thing I like is that you cannot lock the doors if the key is in the ignition. If you hit the lock switch, the lock will not go down. I locked myself out of my Focus one time with the engine running, and must have bumped the lock switch on the way out of the car. Had to flag down a cop to get me in the car.

Minuses are, no auto dimming rear view mirror, the outside mirrors are not heated, and the trunk opening is small even though the trunk space itself is very good, and it rides a little on the hard side. Mileage commuting so far is sitting right at 31.4, which is not quite a high as the '07 Focus 5-speed, but by only 2 or 3 mpg, but it does seem to have way more power than my Focus. (Interesting thing is that the base G5 with the 2.2 engine has the same EPA as the HO 2.4. both city and highway)

This is the first GM car I've owned in about 20 years. I'm really a "Ford Guy", since I have 4 other Fords at home. So far, the information center says I'm getting 31.4 on my daily commute. I hope I didn't make a mistake in buying from the "General". I looked at the Solstice, but the mileage on those is about what I get on my '08 Mustang GT..!

another minus.... no slow-balt or G5 handles like a focus does. And the trunk opening is really small, you can barely get a case of beer in there!

^^^ A friend of mine has a cobalt, it's pretty plain looking. And the only thing I was doing was help changing his flat tire, I still don't like the idea of lug nut covers. I have changed 2 GM vehicles and you got to take the lug nut covers off to get to the lug nuts= Waste of my time even thinking about changing the tire.
Finally peace and quiet...
