my heat shield

i have wanted to paint my heat shield over my headers, is it to possible to paint them with 900 degree high temperature paint

Yeah. You should be ok with high temp paint, but most people just take them off.

I wouldn't take it off if you have a Zetec with stock header. And I've also read that people have run into issues with painting it because of excessive heat and it will eventually start to flake off.

I would take it off and polish that baby up....get her nice and shiny.

well i have painted it and put it back on and it smoke when i rev the engine (sitting still) is that good or bad

Mine was nasty looking....took it off and painted it flat black. High temp paint, but it will have to be redone every few years. No big deal. Be certain all the rust is removed, and it's totally clean....

mine is gloss black and looks good i am just worried about the paint melting off and stuff and ruining everything under the hood

When you remove the heatsheild you open yourself to bigger problems ie melting harnesses even if you wrap the headers! I painted my heat shield with 500* High Temp with no problems thus far and I drive hard lol!
