100 MPG sports car?

I came across this earlier today. I think its a pretty cool idea personally. Have a car thats fun to drive around AND gets (a desired) 100 MPG? Sweet deal.

Check it out:

For a minute there I thought you'd looked at that braking regeneration car that was online asking for investors for a while. I guess they were hoping that extremely rich people were stupid about physics.

That's a neat idea, but a tractor motor in a Lotus 7 kit is not what I would call a sports car.

LPG and diesels have been used in "sports" cars before. With the right gearing and light weight you can make a small turbo diesel work fairly well. 75 mpg is excellent for driving to work or having fun on the weekend, but would you want to be hit by a SUV in one of those little cars?

They'll call anything a sports car these days.

I remember reading a while back that Audi was using a 10 cyl diesel in their F1 car.

Not really, but then again would you want to be hit by an SUV in a Shelby Cobra or a Miata?

Death trap? If you read at the very bottom of the page, it was in an accident, totalled, and no one was hurt. It'll be rebuilt.

I like it. I kinda want one...

that may be true, but that term applies to so many vehilces these days it isn't funny, s2000, mr2, miata and the list goes on. if this project was to get real interest as a production vehile i have a feeling it wouldn't be an open top, glorified dune buggy because noone would buy it

i once witnessed an expedition flip, back over the front, on the highway when cliped by an mr2. the mr2 was fine and completely drivable, the expedition needless to say, was not, so its not always fair to assume anything is a drivable casket or not until it's tested and actually driven
