Ford and Honeywell Turbo?

So being a NA guy myself I've never heard of Honeywell (other than making my air purifier... lol)

what are your thoughts?

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080730/ford_turbochargers.html

(basically....by 2013 Ford says 90% of it's vehicles will be turbocharged....(I personally don't believe it, but you never know.)

Honeywell basically invented the turbo, and you've never heard of them?
Shame on you.
They own Garrett. You've heard of them, right? lol

Here is the press release from the VNT technology (the new Power Stroke uses),

Honeywell is huge. They build parts for everything. I have a friend that works there. They do a lot of goverment work too, building bombs and what not. Honeywell plant is about an hour from where I live. Very good company to have some stock in.

Ford have to make more turbo charged cars, it's the only way of making an efficient petrol engine, whilst having som performance and keeping down emmisions.

Ford have changed the fiesta ST from a 2.0ltr N/A unit to a 1.6cc turbo unit, keeping the same, 150bhp. Also is far easier to tune

A side note, I read in an article recently that the days of the 500bhp German Super saloon wer numbered. Due to the increase in fuel prices and countries becoming more stringent over emissions, cars will have to become smaller and lighter, effectively turning the clock back.

Currently there's only one car i know of that's lighter than it's predesessor, the Mazda 2. It's also bigger.

Lotus appears to be one of the winners in this segment with manufacturers queing at their door to help re-engineer their models.

Well I will tell you one thing, I posted that press release for a reason. You will be seeing VNT on the new Ford Econoboost engine series.

I like that they are finally coming into reality. But I don't like how they are advertising it, economy of a V-6 with the power of a V-8. Really, because I want the economy of a 4 cylinder with the power of a V-8. What can you do for me then? ... crickets ...

I'm thinking the other nice thing might be that the price of a turbo may drop being the market will be flooded with them. I'm sure it will be some goof ass downpipe design and manifold plate, but someone will eventually HMT it and they will be the hot item.
