thinking of buying a focus

hey guys whats up im the proud owner of a 2001 saturn sl1, all 100 hp of it . Hah anyway, Ive lived with the car for over two years (my first car) and put only 10K on it, its at 70,000 miles now and nothings ever gone wrong with it, but all that cheap plastic keeps cutting me, and the gutless performace doesnt exactly inspire confidence when driving on the freeway. Its like im in a go-kart, and simple things like the manual windows, locks, and having no cruise are really starting to annoy me. Anyway i have been looking at the 08 Focus with the SYNC and stuff, but I have a few questions. Ive heard Ford is bringing other small cars over to the states, but Im not sure when they are going to be here. The car is going to have to be purchased by the end of summer next year so what does that leave me with? Also, does anyone know if SYNC will work with the music on a phone, like the eNV2? And if they bring the Euro Focus over whats going to happen to this model? I am so confused now, but I have been saving up for a while to bring a decent car to college with me. Its also nice to see a large community like this, reminds me of saturnfans.com. anyway, thanks in advance!

From what I have read, the new cars from Europe will not be here until 2010 at the earliest. There is some rumors that Ford will build an RS version in the 2009 Focus, but I have not found anything to say it will be built - not saying it won't.
The SYNC will play your music from your eNV2, but I think you need the PC adapter to the USB port - I am still learning mine and that is what I am understanding (I have the Flipshot).
With the Euro Focus coming in 2010, the 08 and 09 body styles may or may not be "blended" into the Euro styling - I guess that will be known when the Euro cars are brought over and models are released (maybe sometime next year). With what I am reading here and in the car mags and sites, nobody really knows exactly what we are getting and what models will be available (except Ford), but we are all hoping for the best.

I may be wrong on the Euro Fords, the body styles we are seeing now (from Europe) may change in two years.

If you plan on buying by the end of the summer next year, you might have a few things out. The new Focus might be out, but I do think the fiesta will be out by the then or just coming around, the focus might not come till the year after but I think we are suppose to get the fiesta in 2009 for the 2010 model year.

Why not stick with saturn. Get the saturn astra, its such a great car, looks sick and is fun to drive. I'd personally go for the 3 door. I barely see any saturns rolling around, and not cause they are bad cars but people are not even willing to look at them or give them a chance becuase of what saturn once was. But saturn is a totally different company now. They all opel/vaxhualls now. Take a look at the astra, i know i'm suppose to be supporting ford and the focus but get an astra on the road.

i dont know about the sync stuff, but i recently bought my 05 zx3 and i absolutly love the car. i can drive pretty erratic and have a whoooooooole lot of fun, a good mix of city and highway driving, and a generally heavy foot and i still avrg 30mpg rounding down, it's really pleasing.
before this car i drove a z28 and i could honestly watch the gas gauge fall when i put the hammer down, which wasn't all that fun actually.
half the horse power and 5 times the fun, it makes no sense but i love this damn car, and its probably just a happen chance, but sense i got it, women seem to be coming at me outta no where, annnnnnd i'm getting a promotion at work, freakin sweet

You should check out the Mazda3 as well. They have the same engine as the Focus but with more horsepower and are alittle more costly. Just an idea, but you might like em.

can't beat the focus. I've owned plenty of other cars - this one gets two thumbs up - check out the other thread about crazy things people have fit in their hatchbacks :)

You could find a nice used Focus. I have never enjoyed a car as much as I do my Focus, and I used to own a '63 T-bird.

I owned my '93 Escort GT for 14 years. I loved that little blue car, but I love my Focus even more.

you will love any focus model or year, the platform is the same for all years with just small tweaks with newer models. you wont be disapointed with the focus its a great all around car.

I do somewhat agree with drkknight the astra is a cool looking car.
