My New 08 Focus SES

Well earlier today I posted on the Welcome forum that I was picking up my 08 Focus SES today. Thanks everyone for the warm welsome, and I apoligize, I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread with my audio questions.

Well buying an 08 focus in July has been an expierence. I knew all the options I wanted and got my bank to liquidate some stocks so I could go buy my new car. I was watching dealer stock while I waited for the money to arrive and watched every car I was interested in get sold. So in frustration I went to my local dealer (I live in a small town and usually avoid the local guys), gave them my specs and asked them to find a car for me. First they found one and we talked price and then they tried to do the dealer trade, no dice. The another - not as well equiped but ok, no dice again. Third time's a charm and tuesday morning the dealer sent someone to go and get the car. I went into the dealer about 6:30 PM and the car had not arrived, So I asked if we could get the paperwork out of the way while we waited. The dealer closed at 7:00 and still no car. I drove by the dealer around 8:00 (my wife wanted me to run to the store) and noticed the car there and took a few pictures.

When I got home and looked at the pictures I noticed that my SES was missing the rear spoiler. thought that was odd and made a mental note to double check when I picked it up. When I got to the dealer about 11:30 AM this morning, my new focus was all shiny and ready to go, my sales person (who really did take care of me, I am pretty happy I got this guy) was all ready to show mw all the features and get me on the road. I looked over the car and said, "it is missing a part." My salesmen look shocked, (i mean really not in a shyster kind of way) and asked what was missing.
"Where is the rear spoiler?", I wondered.
"This car didn't come with one."
"It's on the sticker"
"Lets take a look.."

and there it was on the standard equipment. He went to the sales manager, and then to the part office and came back and said, "I don't know what were going to do. a spoiler is $xxx and we only made $xxx on the car."

I looked disappointed and held firmly onto my check. and the sales person went off again to find some resolution. The sales manager then approaced me and said he'd order the spoiler, after all that is what I bought. I said thanks. Got in my car and drove to work.

But I have to say they all seemed really upset over the whole thing and suprised that I noticed. It seems that the factory ran out of spoilers and failed to put one on this car - that seem like a real QA problem if you ask me. but everything else on the car is great, and I had a great time driving my new focus around. Hope that excitement stays for a while and wasn't just new car bliss

Nice job on getting them to pony up the spoiler - since it was on the sticker, they never should have balked at it. I am pretty sure you will enjoy your 08 SES as much as the rest of us who own 08 Foci.

And Welcome to Focus Fanatics, be sure to browse the forum for mod ideas.

I've had mine for 6 weeks or so and liking it more everytime I drive it.
I like the 5/speed which is easy to drive.
Last two tanks I averaged 34.8 checking it with gallons and miles.
The on dash mileage always seems to be 2 MPG high.
My wifes 08 with just about every option and auto only seems to get 27 to 28
with the way she drives.

Well they were shocked and upset because if something is a miss on the car that they sell the dealer might thought that you got cheated by them, and thus meaning losing a customer.

They tried to tell me in the neighborhood of $700, I gave them the same blank stare and said that the car I bought had a spoiler. I figure from some on-lin research it will cost the deler about $250 and labor, but that is a guess.

You can get a factory style rear spoiler at Wood Dash Experts for around $100 and have it painted for an additional 70 bucks

I know they are expensive but 700 bucks is a bit pricey.
