RVC Equiped Alternators

First let me appologize for posting this in a ford forum, and probably the wrong topic.

The GM RVC alternators currently being used in upper scale chevys are supposed to inscrease mpg ratings by lowering the voltage ie, drag on an alternators / belt system by lowering voltage output when not needed from a standard 14.4v to 12.8v 13.2v.

The question would be if anyone has delt with these on a regualar basis, and could give me some hints on testing these alternators on and off the car.

Testing on the car, with a sun systems vat45/vat40 or a snap-on charging system/battery testing computer, an upgrade from the vat45. Our company currently only has these specialized computers, and not an obd reader/test machine.

And testing off the car with a newer jimco alternator/starter test bench.

I already know most of the in an outs of our basic si/cs alternators without rvc equiped voltage regulators. and other basics, and advanced techinques for testing most other alternators/regulators etc etc. and I am asking for any tips for testing RVC's without the use of a obd reader.

If they did that just to increase MPG then it's working.... I have a government 2007 Chevrolet Express 5.3L the most torque-est van I have ever driven other than those crap detuned camaro 5.7L express.
