!!!ford Focus Mpg!!!

I have a 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 SES that I have recently done some engine work on. I just got the car and I wasn't smart enough to check the MPGs before I did the work. Does anyone out there have a similar car that would like to share the MPG they get?

Also, My car has an automatic transmission. I am just curious about the overdrive button the bottom of the gear selector. I heard that driving around town with the cruise contol on does harm to the engine and lowers the MPG's and should only be used on the highway doing speeds of excess of 50 miles per hour. Is this true?!

Please feel free to contact me via EMAIL at levin.matthew@yahoo.com

Thank you for your help!

I've got a similar setup.....'06 automatic, stock eng and wheels. I tried driving with the over-drive off for a few tanks of gas. And I only turned it on when I was on the highway.

What I found.....The gear ratio of high with O/D off, is too low most of the time. The rpms are simply too high when driving say at 40mph. Plus it's very hard to remember to turn O/D back on when you go on the highway. Eventually you'll notice the rpms are too high and push the button, but not before you waste gas.

Overall......no gas saving whatever, and way too much hassle for any reasonable person. I get 25-26mpg driving ultra conservative.

I'm thinking something is wrong with my car than. Ugggggghhhhhhh....not again! I'm getting 17-19 in the city. I drive conservative too. The engine seems to be running smoothly making me thing that I'm leaking gas or something.

I just got done fixing the main fuel line. I hope it's not that again.
