Ford Fiesta Cabrio

Looks like Ford has plans for a Fiesta Cabrio...no word on whether it will be offered in the states, they will probably see first how the regular version do. Bet if they brought it here it would sell, cause its a inexpensive, efficient, fun car and many girls just like the cutie in the drivers seat will be snatching them up I'd think.

Sweet..... but I'd rather have a RWD Miata or S2000 for a convertible. Any news on the Ecoboost engines?

Well true, those are both awesome cars, but the fiesta would probably have seats for 4 and would probably cost alot less. Ford keeps saying that Ecoboost engines will be making it under the hoods of basically like every vehical they make in the next couple of years, starting off with the lincoln MKS and then I think the Flex is suppose to get the same V6 ecoboost. Fords saying they'll have ones in the fiesta, the focus, the fusion, explorer, and possibly even the F-150.

Ford needs to get it out soon though, b/c many others are starting to jump on the smaller turbo engine bandwagon. Merc has said that itll have all its products turbocharged around the end of the decade and even GM is planning on introducing a smaller engine with a turbo into their compact cars.

In the next decade we will be looking at smaller engines with turbos from alot of automotive companys. Even though gas is going up tuners should be rejoicing at the fact that more companys will have turbocharged cars from the factory, of course who knows how tuneable they will be, and that we will be dealing with many sub 2.0L engines.

Wait till Honda jumps on this and puts a turbocharged 4 in the standard civic....i think all the civic fans and ricers will go ape haha.

What I'm excited to see is turbos that are designed to run on low octane fuel. Turbo Tom has said it's possible, but harder to do. I'm expecting the EcoBoost engines to be low boost, small turbos on high (10:1) compression engines. These could possibly be built along traditional turbo configurations, or more interesting recent applications with the turbo in the rear of the vehicle. The neat thing about Squire's turbos (www.ststurbos.com) is that the long tubes to pipe the air from the turbo at the rear of the vehicle act like an intercooler decreasing the intake temperatures. The initial intake temp is also lower because the pre-turbo intake is far from the engine. I've considered using one of these turbo systems on my mini-van if I can find an engine cheap enough to rebuild for it. It's not as easy on the Focus because of the limited amount of space under the vehicle to put another exhaust sized pipe.
