Lots of talk....but

There is alot of talk about Ford not having the "sports" Focus that some people want. If they did make a 200hp, lowered, sport tuned, leather, killer stereo, that only held 2 people and could not carry more then a weekends worth of luggage, rice beater, would you be willing to pay the $30,000+ price tag. Car prices are different here then in the states. The price of the SVT Focus when it came out was $29,000. People don't seem to like the current Focus costing $16,000. If you take the extra $13,000, you could make a SVT beater very easily. Are people more interested in a all out, summer only, street racer, that will have high insurence costs and lower fuel milage, or just something slightly more sporty, say like 160hp with more available options, even aftermarket stage kits that are dealer installed, which would not alter warrenty.

Well Said. But i think if ford was able to come out with 200hp sports car that could cost $24,000 I think people would be intrested. I dont think were looking for a 2 seater sports car just an upgrade to what we have.

The way i look at is, is that some people want everyday driver, some people want a weekend warrior. You have those who are very knowledgeable about tuning, NA, FI, engines, and some who are not.... If i didn't know jack, i'd gotten me something with more power, but why only have fun driving when you can have fun building.

Btw, Take a look at ford, the focus for an example. I could say that 10 to 1 there are alot older people (who drive the car for economy) than what there is young in the buying market... Ford simply takes this to their advantage...

People want something, thats about it....Ford had the SVT, then killed that and gave us the half ass version the ST...then they went to nothing. I think most people just want a focus that is performance oriented, has a good amount of power and modifications. You can have a sporty car and have it still be a daily driver....Honda civic Si etc

ST is the bomb, but it should be the standard Foci not a high end one.

Well said! All the people around me driving a focus are middle aged to really old. These cars are economical and werent meant to be driven like a sports car. Thats why Ford makes the Mustang.

Exactly. We "fanatics" make up a VERY small portion of Focus owners. Most people who drive them just like them because they are affordable and get decent mileage. Not to go around corners on two wheels. Yeah a performance version would be kinda nice but IMHO it takes the fun out of making a car yours and unique. If a car had every bell and whistle on it and was fast as hell from the factory I don't think I would be much interested after a couple months of driving it.

I think someone forgot to get the memo out to Everyone that the Focus is not a drag racer. However, this agile little creature has the makings of a quite competent (dare I say it?) rally car. of course most of Us would rather spray Ourselves in the face with bear spray before taking the FoFo off-roading, but I'm just saying there needs to be dirt under her wheels. This car craves it.

Well, I didnt mean it that harshly, I meant it as we had the SVT, then the ST came out and they kinda dumbed it down and made it more conservative. Then after the ST, we got nothing, Ford basically just went on a decline with the performance focus till it was no more. The ST should of been better then the SVT...more power and closer in performance to the competition.

People never said they want a drag racer either, just something with more power, just like every other company has for their sport compact. The car is so great and is a great platform for a sports compact and its a shame that it is going to waste and Ford is not doing anything about it. Hopefully things will change when the MKIII comes out...which it should, cause supposly a ecoboost 4cyl is gonna be under the hood of the next focus.
