New Here - Friendly Hello

Hello all,

New here and wanted to say hello, i have been reading for awhile, and now for my second post. :)

I am from Edmonton, Alberta and own a 08 Focus SES, i know this is a daring statement, from all my reading, it appears the 08 is not in anyones good sights yet.

I have had the 08 for almost 2 weeks now, and in my personal review of the car i can share the following:

I Bought 2 of them, Both SES's Blue for the wife and i have the Ice Silver.

Both have all standard options ( ABS/AIR ETC )
Blue one has no fin, no leather, no sunroof and no front and rear stabilizer bars

Mine has the latter.

My wife bought an 07 focus ses last year, and replaced it with an 08.

I can honestly say they have done a much better job this time around. Even hers with out the stabilizer bars, it handles much better then the 07 ses stock, the braking performance is better, road noise has been reduced by atleast 50%. The suspension is questionable.

Hers: Has a nice soft sedan type feel, no major jolts in the body when hitting bumps etc.

Mine: ( Stabilizer bars ) wow, night and day, the ride is soft, ( still better then 07 ses stock ) however alot more rigid and i do not think the suspension matches up at all, bumps are rigid ( with softness ) but still jolts the car quickly. I am not happy with the feel of it, i think the struts should have been changed, what do i know lol.

( Maybe someone with better knowledge then just driving can share )

Other then that, acceleration is great, drives smooth and i am overall happy.

Sync:
Heh well it works, and works well. Can be a bit of a pain to pair the first time, but generally works well for USB/Phone devices.

Stereo:
Better then the 07 yes, excellent for the future? No, i have no idea at this point, but i am sure it will cost a fortune to change the panel, especially if you still need the support for siirus * shrug * i am sure something will become available.

My only option i would have liked would have been rear discs, not an option, not a chance. I guess i will have to find an after market solution, my only other concern is will mods be limited? It appears to me, that most mods will be costly, due to the design ( other then the engine ).

This is simple brief 08 focus ses thoughts from the 07, i think they did better, much better then 07, however i think they could have done a bit more.

Cheers, look forward to chatting more,

Xolite ( Rick Fehr )

to FF!!

There will be things coming along for the 08 soon enough, and I'm sure rear discs will be one of those. It will all depend on how different the suspension is compared to the earlier years.

Are you sure they're selling some '08s without a front swaybar? In the past they've done without one in the rear but every past model had one in the front...

Welcome to Focus Fanatics

and yeah, mods are going to be hard to find for a while, just like any new car, it takes the aftermarket guys a while to engineer new products, but, give it a year or two and there should be plenty of aftermarket parts available

but, as soon as some come out, I think the '08 will look sweet with a body kit, it has a lot of potential, and, if it has a duratec engine, there should already be quite a few performance parts out that should work, but you will have to check on fitment vs. the '05-'07's, I don't know how much they changed the '08's, but ti shouldn't have been too drastic if they are using the same engine, good luck with parts, bro
