Angry Wapwallopen

I am new to this site. I have a 2007 ZX3 bought brand new 11/30/07. I have a 40 mile commute and should be getting 34 MPG. Instead 5,700 miles later my best mileage has been 28-29 MPG. That is terrible for a small car on the HWY. I love the car but not the gas mileage. Has anyone else experienced this? The ethanol in the gas in Northeastern Pennsylvania should not drop the mileage that much in the winter. Thanks.

First of all welcome to focusfanatics.com...

Second of when they developed the Focus for "emission purposes" although your vehicle is NOT a PZEV; Ford puts it toward lowering emission in sacrifice for fuel economy. I learned it the hard way because, there is no such thing as a vehicle that can get low emission and get great gas mileage it eather has to be one or the other.

And besides thats some great mileage, I get around about that much gas mileage from a 15 mile commute to a marine corp base and got around 26, 27 or 28 MPG and it's a city road with highway speeds; so I think it's mixed driving for myself.

Oh and ethanol gasoline for winter time is evil because it does put a dent in fuel economy.

Yeah I get about the same right now, winter = worse mileage. The driving conditions and gas just dont permit the best MPG's.

Youll see better in the spring time, for now try using the cruise if you have it and take it easy. The EPA figures are much slower than the highway speeds most of us travel (Im usually doing 70-80 on my 20 mile commute, traffic permitting).

Oh and welcome to FF.com

Zx3 Mpg

Thanks for the information. Even with the Cruise on at 70-75 on the open road my MPG has not changed. I am looking forward to the warm weather and improvement in MPG once spring has arrived and no more ethanol. Thanks.

Now that you mention about winter gas and all, it has started to get warm here. I will not even hesitate burning the last of winter fuel until theres no more (and I will take it with pleasure).
