Thinking Focus

Ok I'm new here. First a little about myself, my names Kyle and I'm 20 from Columbus, OH. I'm currently at college for engineering and work at Sears in the tool department (love my garage) I currently have a 2000 F150 4x4 5.4L I drive in the winter. I also have a 1995 Mustan GT with a 5.0, every bolt on and a 70mm turbo now for a DD I have a 99 auto zx2 now its fine but its slow and there arnt many parts for it so I was thinking of selling it and putting out just a little money for a 5spd 2000 zx3. Now I had some general questions:
How much hp can the 2.0 ztech and 5spd handle?
In the long run I'd like to turbo but that would be awile, how much power can I make NA or with nitrous and what 1/4 times am I looking at. It is going to be my DD so I dont need anything super fast (I have the mustang) but it has to be a fun car with good gas mileage. Thanks guys hope to join the zx3 crowd soon.

I'd love an SVT but I'm looking at selling my zx2 for like $4000 or so and would only be able to spend about $5000 or so for a zx3 thanks though

With a turbo and the right engine block- you can build the engines to put out more than 300hp. Turbo Tom at Focus-Power has a turbo SVT that ran 11's with stock suspension. The SVT motor is basically a Zetec block with forged rods, a dual stage intake, and 10.5:1 pistons. I'm not sure what all Tom changed to make his turbo put out that much HP, but I'm sure the pistons were changed.

With just basic bolt-ons you can reach around 140, maybe 150 or so.

There are 2 different manual transmissions, so do some research and make sure you get the more solid MTX. You'll also have to throw away some of your engine knowledge because the Zetec doesn't have timing marks like older engines, there's a tool that lines up the cams, and a bolt hole in the crank pulley to line up the crank. Do your research.

So you are saying the timing setup is just like all newer motors. I rebuilt the top end of my 5.4L in my Expedition and had to get a special tool to set the cams. So with this said it is basically the same setup.
