anyone ever ship wheels/tires before?

ok, possibly a stupid question...but looking for some advice on how to go about shipping wheels and tires. tires mounted on the wheels. how do i get a shipping quote for these? do i have to actually take one to the post office and have them weigh it? lol. and i suppose i've just got to find some boxes big enough to fit them eh? or could they just be wrapped up? yeah...i'm a loser and don't know what i'm doing, lol.

you could weigh them yourself. Hold them while standing on a scale and then weigh yourself. The packing though, I'd be tempted to crate them up using 1 by material and cheap OSB (the chip and scrap board you can get at home depot). maybe someone else has some experience in shipping big things like that.

Get some boxes and tape a side of the box on the front and rear of the rims. The tires don't need protection when shipping, but the rim faces do. Weigh one rim tire and cardboard combo and get a quote from fedex ground. All in all it will cost anywhere from $70 to $100

so...if i'm reading that correctly wood_e...you're saying to basically tape a side of a cardboard box to the front...and another side to the back...so as to sandwich the rims? just have a blast with tape eh? lol, if that is indeed what you're saying, it does sound simpler than fitting them in a box and filling the box with whatever.

I'm dead serious. It's the easiest and est way to ship wheels with tires already on them.

ok, gotcha. as i said, it actually does make a lot more sense, just gotta make sure there's plenty of tape on there so they don't slide out, lol, i just wasn't sure if i was actually reading that right! sounds good, appreciate the assistence, i think that calls for a rep point just for creativity! lmao

Take them to a UPS store. They will do all the work for a fee.

ive read before that the cheapest way to ship bulky items is through greyhound. they load it under one of there buses. the only down side is that it goes from one bus station to another so the reciever will have to pick it up at the busstation. but its a lot cheaper if your shipping bodykits or wheels. someone on here says they just shrink wrap the wheels so they stay together. or maybe it was bubble wrap. anyway u get the idea. heres the link for quotes. http://www.shipgreyhound.com/
