Toyota Rav4, Hyundai Santa Fe, Nissan Rogue?????

So my parents are looking for a new car, and sadly they still want an suv...but want one thats good on gas. After trying to convince them to just get a car, these are the ones they looking at. Actually they just looking at the rav4 and santa fe, but I'm going to try to get them to look at the Rogue again. The rogue is new so they not really looking at it cause theres not many ratings out for it yet(If anyone knows where i can find those that would be a big help). But it's my pick outta the bunch, cause its priced great, and comes with a crap load of awesome options(Awd package comes with bluetooth phone system, bose surround sound, keyless start and entry,HID lights...to name a few, all for 2k). Nissan has good reliabilty right? I see plenty of them running around. Anyway, my moms leaning towards the santa fe cause its decently price and looks the best compared to the rav4. The ravs exterior is fine, but the inside is so bland and cheap looking and boring like everything else toyota sells. Plus it doesnt come with any great options. But it is the fastest of the bunch...the santa fe, even with a 3.3l v6 compared to the rogues 170hp 4cly, still comes in at the slowest(prob because of a few extra lbs and the transmission is prob crap lol). But what do you guys think. My moms leaning towards the santa fe...she'd get a veracruz if she can afford it but they want to pay as close to 20k for a new car...errr suv as possible. The santa fe is ok, looks good on the outside and inside and is the roomiest outta the three. But the powertrain doesnt seem to be just adaquate. The interior is decent, not as good as the veracruz, and some things feel alittle cheap...like the door handles that can bend and feel like they are going to break off when you open the door, one thing I disliked.

Thoughts????

I would probably say the Santa Fe. It's been around a while and is pretty sleek looking. The interior is hands down the best looking in my opinion. If they are looking at a SUV, they probably aren't looking for performance as much as versatility.

I'm not sure if this is out of the question, but the Escape Hybrid gets decent gas mileage. It's pretty reasonably priced as well. For MPG consideration, this is a great vehicle.

Yea they considered the escape. But didnt really want to go with another ford. They want something in the low 20s.

there was a huge compact SUV comparo in this or last months car and driver.. look into that... i also agree that the escape is nice but seeing as this is going to be a stickly pavement driven SUV the rogue is a great option. how about a CRV?

i am afraid you have not checked or read any reviews lately for the hyundai santa fe. the new santa fe is rated among the top suv's not cheap breaking as u make it sound buddy. i have just doen my homework for the past 1 month before buying mine. i am coming from a nissan murano se awd. and i must tell u i have moved up!
comparing the santa fe to the rouge is alomst insulting to the santa fe.
the santa fe has been put up against the chrysler patriot, mazda cx7,toyota highlander, toyota rav4,and ford edge. it has won all of them for second place every time! the only car that beat the santa fe was the nissna murano and it was pretty much for speed. read motor trend and car and driver for face off's.
the rav4 can nto touch the sante fe or much any other car for that matter in terms of what you get. here are some links re the santa fe to put your mind at ease:

hope this helps.
