2009 Corolla XRS

Here's one shot of the car. If you do a search you'll find plenty on flickr but they don't let you DL pictures unfortunately.

I think it looks a lot nicer than its predecessor, but I don't like it anywhere near as much as the new SI. In terms of LOOKS, they look pretty similar, but I don't know WHAT Toyota was thinking with the motor they used. It's straight out of the Scion tC. It replaces the 1.8 from the Celica GT-S that made 180 horsepower and much less torque. I've never driven the GT-S but I heard that it felt like it had a lot more torque than it really did, so why did Toyota put a crappy 2.4 in there!? 0-60 is down too. It was in the 7's and now it's up at 8.1...far slower than the GTI and the SI. On top of all this, most other car manufacturer's have gained significant ground on Toyota in reliability and fuel consumption. So what would make somebody want to spend money on this thing? I don't really know to be honest. I can't think of a single reason to buy this car over its competition. Plus it still looks bloated IMO.

major DOH to 'yota

damn those are some big wheels for a Corolla! Actually it doesn't look too bad... a bit like the '08 focus only with an appropriate amount of chrome.

not bad. I hope it's cheap. probably wouldn't buy one though.

You know, in Thailand the Corolla is a big car...I mean it's a large car in comparison with the other vehicles on the road. taxis and cops use them.

see if you remember that in 10 minutes.

It's interesting, similar stats as the Focus ST, and my wife's 2000 Nissan Altima for that matter.

yeah, just saw it on tv the other day. i really do like that front end, think the camry almost looks sporty with the black mesh/honeycomb/whatever it is style grille. fits well for the corolla as far as looks are concerned.

I've never really been impressed with the Corolla before. I've been in plenty of them and the interiors are cheap, the engine had weird noises under 20,000 miles, the steering creaked, ext. This new Corolla looks pretty nice though. I haven't seen any interior pics yet, but it sure does look sharp.

it still looks they are using the same chassis from before, but with massaged body lines.

the only corollas that are worth a damn are the 80's

They Corolla XRS starts at $18k.. why would you pay that much for a corolla which is supposed to me an economic car as a performance car?? i think they are nice but that is a bit much for a corolla i would rather take that 18k and put it on an SI..
