644?

(4.362 + .8)b x 3.850s x 8cyl = 644ci

Sure its .8? That sounds like a lot. Usually its .080, and that would be 477.

original bore 4.36" original stroke 3.85"

pi*(4.36/2)^2*3.85 = 57.48 in^3 per cylinder, so 460 in^3 for the whole motor.

new bore = 5.16"

pi*(5.16/s)^2*3.85 = 80.51 in^3 per cylinder, or 644 for the whole motor.

BUT if instead you mean 80 thousandths over which is 0.080", then you get

new bore = 4.44"

pi*(4.48/2)^2*3.85 = 59.61 in^3 per cylinder, so 477 for the whole motor.

...by the way 644 cubic inches is 10.5 L!!!

i would be careful about boring an engine 80 thousanths. the most i ever see is about 60 thousanths. more than that and you run into heat issues. the cyl walls get thin and share heat between the pistons. not to mention the water jackets are closer and its more likely you will get cracks between them and the cyl.

exactly. he made the stroke longer so more of the cyl is used. thus more displacement. do you know how much he is stroking it?
