Arg I can't believe I am asking this...

Well about 20 minutes ago I got speeding ticket going 55 in a 45 out on 315 in Delaware. He popped me with a laser at the bottom of the hill. This is my first ticket ever and I was kind of expecting him to give me a warning to no avail, but I was speeding so I have no excuse. When I got home I noticed he wrote that the date was 1/27/08...and it's 2/2/08 is this a on purpose mistake maybe from the cop? I work for the city in there IT department and I know alot fo the officers. If not what should I do? I have a court date on the 12 next month and it's a $110 ticket SHould I just sned in my moey and take this silly defensive driving course?

And by the way I am no way bitching about the ticket, I was speeding and I shouldn't of, I normally don't.

Did you show him any ID to let him know you work for the city? If I was you I would do that EVERY TIME you get pulled over. My friend's wife works for the police department in his town and he gets out of speeding tickets all the time.

Go to court. It may get thrown out for the technicality. If you have to pay, then take the driving school so there is no point on your record. 10 over is a pretty small offense.

No I didn't show him any type of ID but my parking tag is bright blue sitting in my window for city employee's. I would like to go to court but if I wanted to take the class it says I have to mail in a letter admitting guilt and waiving a court trial. So I can either just pay the fine and pay for the course and not get any points, or I can risk going in and hopeing it gets thrown out and if it doesn't I have to pay it and I have points on my licesnse.

That's unusual. Every ticket I've gotten there has been a choice to go to court or pay in advance. If I have not gone to driving school in the past (18 months in CA) I can register for a calss and send in my certificate after taking the class. The second option is to go talk to the judge and the same rule applies, 18 months or more and I can take the class.

I am pretty sure that you can take the class even if you don't pay in advance of your court date. If you have a question you should call the number on your ticket (or on the notice they send you in the mail).

Don't fool with points. Go the route with no points.

Seeing as this is your first ticket, they will probably let you plead it down or just completely drop it. My first tickets (yes, thats supposted to be plural) I got when I was 17 - I got 3 AT ONE TIME. I got an "unreadable license plate" "speeding - 69 in 55" and "failure to provide registration". They dropped the speeding and registration as long as I plead guilty to the license plate ticket. I would go to court and see what they'll offer.

I know up here around the Akron area you can get away with 5 - 10 over a lot of the time. honestly, I would have a tough choice between the court and the class. I don't like school, I would probably go to court and see if they will just drop the offense. worse case is you just pay some fines.
Right?

See I am hoping that is actually true, because he put a really wrong date on my ticket. But how do I prove that I got the ticket today?
