To buy or not to buy, '99 SVTC

Hey all, get a load of this that popped up for sale near me:

1999 Ford Contour SVT. the sweet 200hp 2.5L Duratec
Black, the dark blue leather, moonroof, fully loaded $6500.
Here's the best part........38,000 miles on it!
This thing in practically flawless!

Is it just me, or would I be crazy not to give this thing a new home?

^^^I agree, they look nice for a Contour. My favorite thing is the back w/ the dual exhaust.
But I never could get past the headlights, they seem awkward to me. Maybe some eyelids would cure that.
But it is a very nice driving car. In ways I like it better than the SVTF.
It has a heavy feel to it which would be it's exta 400+ lbs of weight.

But it's definitely less common, and I usually only see high mileage ones that are all trashed or well used.

My last car before the ST Focus was a 98 Contour SVT. To make a long story short it was the car of sorrows, a hanger queen and a hit magnet. Do yourself a favor and take the VIN # to a Ford or Mercury service department and have them run an Oasis report. This will show warranty repairs as well as anything else. A CarFax report is good but the Oasis is better. Finally, be prepared to slip whom ever runs the report a ten spot for the effort.

^^^thanks for the heads up.
I am doing the vin check today.
So did yours get stolen?

Mine will not go out into the big bad world very often. It would be my 4th car.
I'm thinking of keeping it more as a collectible. Drive it on "special" days.

Whats more, the original owner is an elderly gentleman, and this thing was babied like no other. He only had a problem with his vanity mirror fuses or something. It's in showroom condition.

Go for it... the CSVT was one of my last cars before the Focus as well and I loved it. I missed it so much and will find another CSVT if I saw one for sale for cheap......

Yes, you would be crazy to not give that thing a new home!

A few years ago, a kid at the local Rex Electronics store had a contour...I believe it was an SVT, but I'm not sure. Anyways, he had done a bunch of stuff to it...lowered it, nice exhaust, some engine mods and whatnot. Looked real nice. I've wanted one since I've seen that car. And then I bought my first fofo. So after driving my fofo around for, oh 3 weeks, I was at the grocery store and saw a CSVT for sale...boy I was quite angry! It was only $1000 more than I paid for my fofo too.

I've been kind of tossing around the idea of getting one also. I've seen a few for sale, but I'm not close enough yet to make the decision to buy one. It seems like a good find to me (of course it's not my money at stake here either).
