European Focus

Does anyone know what the European equivalent is to a 2001 SE. For the fact of the matter does anyone know of any European equivalents to any of the Foci stateside. I'm wondering because I'm looking at parts on European-parts.net but have no clue what the classifications for their cars are to ours.

Most any Mk1 part should work, as long as it isn't a hatch back rear body part. What are you looking for?

Anything for a Euro 1999-2005 Focus will fit a US Focus...with slight modification, of course.

The major differences between Europen Focus MkI models are:

1999-2001

This is the orignial bodystyle...front bumper is similar to the US bumper in appearance, the primary difference being integrated turn singals, tow hook cover, glass foglight housings rather than plastic (same shape/size but use H1 bulbs instead of 899) and it doesn't stick out as far. Diamond-pattern grilles top and bottom. The rear bumper on the hatches also integrated a reverse and rear fog (red) light, as well as not sticking out as far. Saloons and Estates (sedans and wagons here) had different rear tails but the rear bumpers are the same as those found on the US models. All models feature side triangle turn indicators on the front fenders.

Front end shot:

2002-2005

This is commonly referred to as the "'02 Facelift." All models got a distinctly redesigned and more aggressive front bumper with radically different foglights on equipped models. Top grille has a large diamond pattern, bottom grille on standard models is a combination of vertical and horizontal bars, ST170 bottom grille is a matching diamond pattern to the top. ST170 also features H3 projectors instead of the H11 reflectors. Minor design change on the rear hatch bumper to include a small lip towards the top, other models remain the same on the back.

Front end shot:

And of course, there are also several aftermarket Euro bumpers that will directly bolt onto a US Focus. Any OE Euro Focus bumpers require removing the front crash pad and slight modification to the bumper rebar. Rear bumpers (on a hatch) require a Euro crashpad and rebar. There is also the RS bumper, but this requires flaring your stock fenders or replacing them with RS fenders. There are a few knock-off Euro bumpers available here in the US as well, for 2000-4 a 99 "RS Edition" replica and for 2005-7 F2's RS replica.

I would also like to note that Euro bumpers are technically not legal for on-road use here in the US as they are not DOT-approved, however I have not heard of anyone getting in trouble with the police or during vehicle inspections with Euro bumpers installed.

I don't think the 1999-2001 front bumper cover fits our cars. It's a lower speed bumper under the cover. Our bumpers (the part under the cover) stick out further.

Both of the cars I pictured are US models that have been refit with Euro bumpers. The second one is my car, and a telltale sign on the first picture is a lack of the aforementioned triangle sidemarkers, not to mention the owner of the car (Focus_3XZ) lives in New Jersey.

Euro lips won't fit the US bumper, you'd have to first install a Euro bumper.

Rear quarter panels are the same between US and Euro models.
