Stupid Ford....

So my headlight bulb went out today... And I was standing outside trying to get the retainer ring off of the housing for like 20 minutes. No good. So then I just take it to the dealership... the guy tried for about 15 minutes, still... no go. After about an hour, and four different people, it finally came off.... Stupid stupid ford and their stupid retainer rings. Just my rant for the day. Oh and the other part, stupid $20 headlight bulb...

One funny story I got out of it. Some guy went in the other day with a focus that he tried putting HID's into. The cheapy NAPA kit... Guys in the shop said his engine bay looked like a rat nest of yellow wires. He had no headlights at all. And they wouldn't help him out. Shoulda looked here before NAPA

If he took it to the dealer it was probably a Motorcraft OEM replacement. I could easily see the dealer charging $20 for a headlight bulb...

You pretty much have to take the housings out to change the bulbs. You might be able to get away without doing so, but in my experience its much easier to just pull the whole thing out, it'll take less time in the long run.

Actually the dealer did it all for free. An hour of dealer time for free, thats pretty cool, lol. It was funny after all this, I hadnt gotten the bulb yet, lol. They were like wtf, all that and no bulb, lol. I couldnt help but laugh. They were indeed Silverstars. The dealer couldnt even figure out how to take the housing out with the SAP. Neither could I. There must be some screw or something underneath, I dont know.. But at least I got them replaced, lol

I rolled around for about three months without that bolt on the inside of the fender and didn't have a problem. But the bouncing headlight effect was annoying. But yeah, my suggestion to is to take the whole headlight out. Once you do you'll think "wow, that was easy". I think it's a 10mm?

yeah when i changed in my silverstars in a parking lot a few months ago, i was spending a bout 20 mins changing em out because of the ring, then once i get the rings off, the wires were too short, i could barely get the stock headlights out because of the wires being too short, but i eventually did get it done

Ford isnt the only one that has headlights that are a PITA to change. Most new cars are a bitch.
