My exhaust resonator dilemma *help please*

Hello everyone this is my dilemma…

I just purchased this universal resonator in a local muffler shop for my little project. The dude kept telling me that he “thinks” this is how is should go. The out section and the in section.

the resonator

he said this is the outlet

and he said this was the inlet

This messed up my mind because I thought the baffles should be facing the inlet section because as the exhaust flow comes from the engine the opened baffles trap the sound and exhaust in which quiets it down, but he said I was wrong, that the baffles should be facing the outlet section because that way the glass pack doesn’t get damaged with the excessive exhaust flow. What do you guys think?? please help

I'd be for taking that thing back. notice how small that thing is inside?
will restrict the exhaust flow. and any shop that says "I think"... run away from! especially an exhaust shop where they are supposed to know.

I would think it should be as suggested. Baffles away from inlet (3rd pic). Your trapping sound waves, not exhaust gases. But I gotta admit I am not sure. Resonators I have seen 1st hand usually just have slits in the inner pipe so orientation does not matter. Something else that bothers me a bit. in the 2nd pic, is the inner pipe welded to the outer pipe? it does not look like it. I don't think that is right.

Did it quiet it down? Did you replace it for a cat or something? How was the engine-power after install? Thanks!
my plans are to decat a car in put that in its place to keep the noise down a bit but keeping everything straight flow since i already have a header and a cat back muffler setup...
