Thumbs down the more i look at other cars...

The more I look at other cars, the more it looks like the better option is to put a SC on my car and just run it into the ground:

Mazdaspeed3
25000 +/- configured
263hp/280tq
26mpg highway
3153lbs

VW GTI
26000+/- configured
200hp/207tq
29mpg highway
3100lbs

Subaru Impreza WRX
28000+/- configured
224hp/226hp
25mpg highway
3142lbs

My SVT + Procharger + tune
6000+/- parts & labor (sc, clutch/fw/lsd)
est 270whp/200wtq
est 30mpg highway (from others experiance, and my driving style)
est 2900lbs (thats including extra weight of sc & intercooler, ignoring weight lost from flywheel)

so someone bring the parts and money, ill meet you at the shop with my car and we can get to work

If I was in the market for a "new" car right now I'd be picking up a NB ('98-05) Miata...50/50 weight split, 2200 pounds & RWD. There's a number of them within 25 miles of my ZIP on Autotrader for ~$15,000 with under 20,000 miles.

But yeah I totally agree, all the new performance compacts are getting heavier, less efficient and more expensive. And they have too much luxury fluff...I don't care about power windows or locks, or a premium sound system or 15 airbags (etc.)

an NB weighs closer to 2300-2400 pounds, depending on options and year.

Oh well, looks like I'm just going to have to concentrate on restoring my old Mustang (which will weigh less than my focus)
