Angry Bullseyes (((o)))

On May 17th, I would have gone 4 years without a single scratch or chip in my windshield, but this week I've had 3 "bullseye" chips on the driver's side within 6 inches of each other. Local windshield repair companies won't fix these because they're on the driver's side...something about insurance and glares causing accidents. SO, I used Permatex's Bullseye Windshield Repair Kit on the first one and will use it on the 2 I got this morning also...it does okay, but not "like new" or anything. I guess it's true that when you're saving money for something (supercharger), something else pops up to cause you to spend money...I need rear brakes too.

Here's the stuff I used...got it at Autozone for around $10.

I really don't see the point in replacing the windscreen until it is actually cracked. I'll do the same thing you did once I get a bullseye in my windscreen.

I tried that stuff before on my old pickup and it never seems to work.

it won't work if the crack has started to spider out at all. the reason most insurance companies won't fix it if it's on the driver side is that the sun could still ctach the crack at an angle and temporarily blind you.

What those do is seal it to keep the crack from growing, I had to use one recently on my Ranger.

Man that sucks! Sorry man, I hate chips and dents! Every time the wife drivers my car it comes back with damage. That's why she dont' drive it anymore. LOL Last time she drove through a paint cloud when they were painting the lines on the highway, I had white dots all over the car. LOL

I thought the window repair guys fixed that stuff. Didn't know the driver side thing. Strange

thats odd. When my mom had her Mazda 626 she got a bullseye on her windshield and her insurance company got on the phone and had someone come out while she was at work and swap out her windshield with a new one.

because "fixing" it with some of that goo they use (which is basically what GonFishin did) doesn't help. the crack could still catch some light, cause a prism effect, and blind you. they know that. so what they're saying is "if you want us to fix it, we're only going to fix it right." they'll only replace the windshield if the crack is on your side bc that's the only safe way to do it (or at least the only way that they could do it and not be liable later on if something were to happen)
