Antenna broke off...um, help?

So I was washing my SVTF today, which it really needed by the way after all the ice storms and bird do. We're talking perhaps a good month of no washing. It was filthy. Anyway I barely bumped the antenna and it broke off.

Literally.

I was pissed but thought I'd just get another and screw it back in, right? Wrong. The screw itself broke. How does one go about replacing the antenna screw on the roof of the car?

You can pick up a base from Central Flordia Motorsports for 7 bucks or go to your ford dealer and get one for like 9 or 10.

Drill and tap a new screw hole. You should be able to find the screw pattern at your local hardware store.... Just a solution.

Well it didn't take me long at all...except the instructions were just a bit off. Once I popped off the dome light, I unscrewed the bezel holder only to discover...SURPRISE! I did't have to unscrew it at all. It was right there, all I needed was a torx bit to unscrew it. Thankfully I had one handy.

10 minutes later, I have a shiny new antenna base with my shorty antenna flying high and proud again.

Next time just install a longer antenna, that way if you bump it by accident it will just wobble instead of breaking off. Or, just remove the antenna before washing the car. Hope that helps.

Didn't the 98-01 Mercury Cougar share the same antenna base from the focus? Cuz I remembered when I installed my cd player and needed a antenna radio reciever it was for a Mercuru Cougar that works with the Focus.
