To Focus or not to Focus

I am looking for a different car for my wife to drive to and from work 50 miles each way daily. We have BMWs right now and we bought her a 2000 323i about three years ago thinking it would be a car that would last for the number of miles she puts on it. Unfortunately we have found that her newer BMW isn't as good as my older BMWs.

So, we are looking for a car that we can reasonably expect to last 5 yrs / 200K miles without having to replace the engine/gearbox. For whatever reason I have had a fondness for the ZX3 Focus for quite some time and we are thinking this might be a viable solution. We are also looking at the Mazda3 hatch.

If I bought a low mileage 2004 ZX3 that was well maintained, can I expect to get a couple hundred thousand miles out of it, without replacing the driveline components?

I'm coming up on 100k on my 2003, and I've only had to replace the ignition cylinder (common problem) and heater core. I've taken good care of my car.

I would think the focus should last 200k with no major problems.
