should i pick it up?

my friend's buddy has a 93 or 94 civic del sol ( i know...i know) for sale. it has the 1.5 D15 (or 1.6 i cant remember) in it. fully built and turboed. he helped his friend build it and everything...it was tranny swapped from an auto to a 5-speed. but he says it is RWD and midshift (engine in the rear). he says it was a limited thing they did with the delsol...can anyone verify it?

he says he has put in almost 9-12 grand into the car and he's selling it for 3500...is this a good deal. it only has around 105k on the motor and 45k on the tranny.

mods i know of are lowering springs, rods, pistons, o-rings, T4 turbo with a T5 conductor, intercooled, STS, CAI, 2.5'' exhaust, 17" rims, 93-100 oct required....there is most likely alot more but i cant remember off the bat...all i know for sure is it's running 10psi and running a low 14 in the 1/4mile.

as far i know the car is babied and daily driven...the body has minor blemishes but the motor is (from what im told...i havent seen it yet) in great shape. he is asking 4 grand for it and im trying for 3500...

so...Should i pick it up?

3500 bucks? Sure why not. Del Slows are fun cars and the turbo works already been done.

Id have it checked out by a mechanic first tho.

Coming from a person who is not a fan of honda, pick it up... the del sols are great looking cars, and by the sound of it the majority of the work is already done. Just take a second look over everything before commiting.

Edit:
ok i did a little bit of searching on the mid-engine question and all i really ended up finding was that the del sol was originaly intended to compete with the MR2's and such in a Mid-engine class, but the engine was moved to the front due to the lack or "sports" car sales in the late 80's and early 90's. (If your wondering about the "sports", one its a sport compact if anything and two im not exactaly sure what the auther was getting at, wether he/she was talking about racing or all sports cars in general.)

i did manage to find this though... a special project car someone was working on. It may help somehow...

ya...from what i hear it is fully built and capable of running about 18 psi on the internals...he said it could very well be a high 12 sec car with a lil tweaking.

im going to take a look at it next week.

it also has fresh paint on it...which is a plus.

I say pass it, the del slow is incredibly girly. and with how old they are now, i wouldnt pay 3500 for it.

And I am raising the bullshit flag on the mid engine rwd claim.

unless he did VERY EXTENSIVE work to make it MR- i support the BS flag.
aside from that, if it's in good condition you should get it.. but try to negotiate the price.
