You couldn't 'legally' do it because the ST hasn't passed the USA's crash test standards. Thats the reason for the subtle differences in the distance the front and rear bumpers protrude on the US vs. Euro MK1 models.

But if you bought one in Mexico, where they ARE for sale, and managed to get it across the border (any ideas on laws prohibiting the buying of an automobile in another North American country?) and then found a garage guy who was either your friend or not to bright, you MIGHT be able to get it registered as a AMERICAN Focus ST. Which were the D2.3 sedans they sold the last few years.

But if you are talking about shipping one from Europe, forget it. $$$$ would be the preventing factor there.

Nah bringing it over the border wouldnt work either due to those same crash test probs. canadians suffer the same prob, we dont get such cars as the GTO or the previous gen Lancer Evo 7 8 and 9. theres more in the list but you get the idea.

it would cost you a fortune. You would be better off buying a C6 Corvette for the same price

Thanks for the info.It would be nice to have something nobody else has but thats what i figured or somebody would have done it by now.I am going to check with my buddy who is still in the army and he is stationed over there.Maybe he could sense its a goverment thing.I know when i was over there they told me i could ship one back and they would pay for it but it was a dodge viper so maybe thats why they would.

Exactly. If I had the money, I'd pay the price of a C6 Corvette to have a Euro ST instead ANY day. But I guess that's why I'm on Focus Fanatics instead of Corvette Crazies...
