Fiance looking for a car

Alright well this morning my fiances Jeep Cherokee is finally on it's last leg. This month it has broken down three times and this morning the fuel pump and radiator exploded on her when she was headed for work. It has over200,000 miles and it's a 95, so it is definantly past it's prime.

So she decided she wants to get a good used car for about 7 to 8 grand at the most. But of course she wants awd or 4wd, because she feels more confortable with it because of the snow, and its the one thing she liked about her jeep. She also wants something that has decent to good gas milage. She likes the focus wagon but unfortuantly there are no awd models that I know of, which sucks because you find them anywhere cheap.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

They are great cars, I only appreciate her car in the winter though. Anytime else it costs her an arm and a leg to fill up, and I think she only gets 15mpg at the most. She also drove the car in the ground. When we first started dating she hadn't change the oil in 8,000 miles since her last one. Can you say mud?

well, next to ford subi would be my choice.
sounds like an outback would be the ticket for her. awd, peppy as hell, and some room in the back, drives with a car feel.
then again a forester isnt a bad vehicle in the subi linup either.

mazda speed 6 is a lot more than 6-8 grand tho... just about anything with 4wd is gonna be kinda expensive unless its old and beat up then your gonna be right back in the same boat your in now. plus awd = more weight + more friction = less mpg so your gonna have to choose between high price for a good awd car or low price for a good fwd car. you can pick up focus' or civics for pretty cheap. 2000+ models of either car for around the price range your looking for. both are very reliable good looking cars. maybe a corolla. i have an 05 AWD ford escape xlt for sale but it might be well above your price range. hope you figure it out.
