Update/Decision on the tale of two hatchbacks

well, first I would like to thank all those that responded; your insight was quite helpful.

I started really focusing ( no pun intended) on the pros and cons and here is what I came up with

SAAB Pro's

1) Hugh hatch area
2) very luxurious
3) very fast
4) great seats
5) beautiful to look at

1) terrible brakes
2) fuel mileage less than the Focus
3) squeeks/rattles
4) Automatic ( Yawn)
5) drives like a really fast Buick
6) No warranty left, SAAB= Big Bucks to fix
7) I feel like its a ticking time bomb
8) mediocre stereo
9) no cupholders worth mentioning

1) drives like a german car
2) tactile feel and manners very teutonic
3) Stereo is fantastic
4)Looks very nice with the EAP wheels/ interior
5)better cupholders
6) easy to get service if needed
**7) Engine/powertrain still under warranty til April of 2009**
8) handles and brakes like nothing I have ever driven. Gives a very good feeling of security
9) Better gas mileage than the SAAB
10) If I ever wanted to sell or needed to, the SVT would be much easier to
11) I like Ford and especially Ford of Europe which for intent and purposes, this car is.
12) Fantastic 6 speed
13) Previous owner had clutch replaced with TO bearing and pressure plate under warranty related to the TSB at 33K miles which means this has only 9K miles on the clutch
14) I have all service records showing oil changes every 3-4K from the same dealer it was bought from
This baby was taken care of!!

1)a smidge tight in the head room.. Somehow there has to be a way of making the motor lower the seat more.. an inch would do it

2) Still not sold on the Recaro seats

3) will need the tune to really make it perform like it should

And so by now you can guess the winner is the Focus. Its sheer driving dynamics and overall feel, along with a known history, and kick ass stereo/ amenities and ease of service/ warranty pushed it way over the edge in terms of desirability

This was a tough decision but that just means I have a winner car no matter which I choose.

Thanks for your help again!
