Angry 06 zx4 Rant

I am a few clicks away from getting very ticked off - what is it with FORD that the past couple of new cars i have purchased from them have to have some major repair. I have owned other new cars and never experienced the bs things that break. ie -

Ford Tempo - dampner spun off out of no where 1600 repair car maybe 1 1/2 to 2 yr old.

Ford Focus - Alternator owned 1 1/2 years.

I would expect something to break if i wasnt taking care of it.

but come on FORD -- i am beginning to understand Fix or Repair Daily

The first one answers itself, it was a TEMPO! LOL

The alternator would hardly qualify as a major repair. Alternators go bad in all kinds of vehicles. I agree that it sucks though.

i start to agree with you... and the tech are worst then autoshop class teenagers. unless the car does not run, or check engine light is on, everything is ok with the car...

that is your biggest problem...

its a 150 dollar part...it takes 2 hours to replace.

honestly dude...complain when your CV boot goes after 8k miles, your clutch dies after 10k, when BIG things go wrong...let us know.

It's funny because I've only had an engine light on once in all the Fords I've owned since '91. That was in the '91 Ranger when the EGR valve malfunctioned at 53k. Ford reimbursed me even though I was over the 50k warranty on emissions. The only other issue I had was I lost an alternator on my '02 Focus (funny now right?). I have to say the charging system on the Focus is stupid. I don't know if the duratec based cars are the same but the Zetec Foci have a computer controlled voltage regulator for the alternator. They replaced my alternator three times before they figured out the ECU was bad and that's what was killing them. I have never heard anyone else say they had a similar problem though. I have owned 12 Ford vehicles since '91. All of them were new and most of them were over 70k when traded. To me that suggests I'm either really lucky or you only hear from people who complain.
