ok so not a focus topic but still could use the help...im trying to stroke my 4.0L I6 in to a 4.5...(if u need some background on the topic here u go
so what it comes down to is geting the crankshaft from a 258 (jeeps 4.2L) from the late 80's 90's motors. the 258 rods and i could use the old camshaft but people have been putting in the crane and Comp Cams...come to find out the aftermarket cams fail or make then lifters go bad...from the jeepforum link... "I used a Crane cam because at the time, there were only a couple known failures. It been in the past year that all the cam failures have surfaced on various Jeep forums. It's not only Crane, but also Comp Cams that have failed. Part of the problem is the narrower lobes on both types of cams. Another factor is today's oil doesn't have the ZDDP additives that flat tappet engines need. The third problem is the valve springs most people use are have greater pressure to deal with the higher lift of the cams. This puts mroe pressure on the lifters and cam."
so the question is does anyone know any way i could make with those cams work better or another company that would work better... i know its not a jeep fourm and all but i trust ur guys thoughts and knowlegde alot more then any other fourm
