08 in 09

I nearly bought a 07 SE last month for $12,500 OTD, that was nearly 5k off sticker. The only thing that stopped me was the new 08.

One of the things I like about Ford is that the end of the years sales are fantastic.

I like the 08 bodystyle and am planning on letting the 03 go and picking up a new 08 next November.

I think gas prices will hit $5 a gallon sometime in the next 2 years, so I want a 30mpg car in the garage. The 03 SE has been one of the best cars Ive ever owned, so Im sticking with the Focus.

I dont understand the 08 bashing. Its a fresh new look. Then again, I seem to remember alot of bashing when the second generation bodystyle hit the lots.

Yea, alot of car companys do the same thing though. I think the best was back in 05 right when they had that huge sale on foci..i think they were starting out at like 10k something. My focus had a sticker price of like 15600. Although mine was more then a model year old. It was showroom new 03, no miles, but i bought it summer of 04 so the 05s were coming in. They sold it to me for 10.5k before taxs and all that stuff, so I walked out the door with it for like 11 something.

Oh and as far as the 08 bashing...besides the looks, the main thing is that Ford really hasnt refreshed anyhting besides the skin of the car, and they added sync. But they ditched the hatch and wagon and a performance model. Basically its being bashed cause the car is 10 years old and all they did is give it some plastic surgery...its still basically the same car it was when it first came out.

I would check out the difference in price between the 07 and 08. I was planning on getting a new 07 (but they only had an ugly beige and blue left) and when I saw the 08 I liked it so asked them to price it for me. Well it was only 15.00 more a month I couldn't believe there wasn't a greater difference.
So as you can probably figure out I got the 08. Good luck getting yours they are nice cars. I don't care what ppl say on here I think they look great.

The '07 should get roughly the same mileage as the '08...remember, Ford changed tunes in 2006 and said the Focus should get about 37 MPG (so low to mid 30s.) I would also think the 2007 will get a bigger clearance discount since that bodystyle is being replaced...sure there will be a clearance sale next year but I doubt the incentives will be as big since the differences between the 08 and 09 will be miniscule.

I'd get the '07 because...well, I'm not allowed to say why because saying anything bad about the 2008 isn't allowed on here, including expressing your opinion about subjective things like looks. I've probably said too much already by saying I'd get the '07 rather than the '08

I think the thing that irks people the most on here is the fact that Ford didn't even try to give us a performance model. If it looked the same with anything from the ST's 2.3 to a turbo set up (keep dreaming...), 4 wheel discs and a performance suspension, the car would have a lot more fans.

The 08's have grown on me, but Im still happy I grabbed my '07, I like hatches a lot more. I think by this time next year people will be able to pick the new body style up for cheap and get a lot of car for the money. More powa to ya for sticking with a focus!

I'm picking this out as an example, because this statement is entirely NOT TRUE. Does anybody have a tinfoil hat?

As outlined (for the most part) in this thread here:"Bashing" the '08, clarified...

If you don't like the '08, fine, that is your opinion. You are entitled to have one. But to go into EVERY thread, or start a NEW thread about the '08 and regurgitate the same nonsense over and over and over and over again, time after time, is not only old and tired, but won't be stood for. You know why, because we have heard it all already, time and time again. It's time to move on. What is the point anyway? Everything that can be said has been said.

Me personally, the '08 is not my cup of tea, as in I wouldn't own one, but it has the potential to do very well. Plus with a few proper modifications, looks pretty damn good.

I got a sweet deal on my 07 back in march - x-plan with 3k in rebates. While I'm upset with the timing that my 02 died, I'm glad that it died when I could get an 07 in the same body and color scheme so that I could act like it didn't die - it just got improved.

Got my login straightened out, so Im back to my usual name.

I like the 08s, thats one of the reasons I didnt get the 07. We have the 03 SE and I sold my 03 ZX3 when I bought the 05 Stang. Been there done that, Im looking forward to an 08.

A few pics to refresh memories:
