Unhappy Focus 2005

Have you seen the 2005 Focus? What an ugly duckling....the new focus doesn't share a thing with its European brother anymore. It has been Americanized and lost its charisma in the process. It looks like a bored little Mercury Sable!! And don't get me started on the interior!!! What a poor job, what a poor facelift!!!

I wonder what everybody else thinks about the 05 Focus?

and also...why can't Bill Ford Jr. bring the European Focus, Mondeo, C-Max, Fiesta as they are to the US? People want them, they are more stylish then American counterparts, much more refined and armored with more fuel efficient engines!!! Can't the guys at Ford see this???

Anyway, hopefully GM, Ford will recognize that the style and driving tastes of American motorists are changing and becoming closer to ones of their European friends.

Ohh...I just wish I was running Ford North America!!!

The 2005's are ugly but ford is notorious for that. Just my opinion of course. New models are supposed to be improved but ford finds a way to make them less attractive than ever. At least they have finally made a decent looking mustang again.

Well I voted yes as you can see why.

I have worked along side the focus since its intro here, and I finally bought one, cuz of the styling so its my opinion, now for some corrections to your logic.

the european foci got the same facelift. in fact the new foci has looks from the euro mondeo. The ST shares alot of componets fromt the euro ST170. So befor you go ranting about this and that back it up with facts.

trust me ford would love to bring the euro versions here, but 2 things the american market is not ready yet, and our govt restrictions are too stringent.

well of course, they are built on the same platform so they will share some parts and pieces...the new euro focus and mondeo are still looking good, wouldn't you agree?
so how come they do not follow the same face lift pattern around here?
SVT vs. ST - ok same engine charachteristics, even the same valve springs but still when you drive them, you can sense the difference in suspension, handling and built quality, not?

I agree the 05 Focus is decent in a ugly sort of way but not great. It reminds me of the Ford Asprire front end with a mesh grille. If the reliability is great then most Americans will still buy it. It looks kinda bloated to me as well.

Its like they're trying to make it look more like a luxury car and less sporty, as if they're trying to appeal to middle-aged businessmen instead of younger people.

I wouldn't buy one, but (of course) I'd take one if someone was going to give it to me. I don't know if they changed it enough to call it "next-gen" but I like the first generation (2000-2004) Focus better.

-edit-

Oh, and the new commercials annoy me "Come on, get up and drive me!" Stupid.
