Non-CARB certified intake and inspection question

Wondering if an intake that doesn't have the carb certification would still pass state inspection no problem. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't but I'm just making sure.

car is a 2.0pzev if that matters

The only issue you could run into with an aftermarket vs stock intake is the loss of the carbon trap in the stock unit. If your state is very strict on this matter then you could opt for the BlazingCoppers 'stealth CIA' detailed on this website. http://www.ineedawebsite.com/Blazing...lth%20CAI.html
You will also find other articles on the 'how-to forum.

Well, the best thing you can do before you spend any cash is to actually go down and talk with someone at the inspection station about your plans. That's what I did and it was very useful. They even gave me the number to a guy at the 'Dept of Natural Resources' (A.K.A. > The Fed ) whom I had several conversations with (This is the Dept of the Fed. Govt. that helps states with compliance for air quality). I told him about my desire to use an aftermarket intake and exhaust (cat-back) system and even to have the car 'chipped' (his description). He was not to 'concerned' about the loss of the carbon trap for emissions. He was not at all concerned about an aftermarket 'cat-back' system as long as the catalytic converter was not compromised. On the 'chip' subject he got real animated, but mostly his ire was directed at SRT2 owners. His point was however, that if your not running rich (what the SRT2 'stage2' tune was infamous for) then he did not really have a problem with them either. I revisit this subject just to highlight that you can have performance mods as long as you respect local emissions laws.
