Going to get one, what do I need to know?

I sold my PT cruiser and looking for a Focus.
I know nothing except that I like the style so I have some questions:
What is cool, 2 door hatch or 4 door hatch?
Do they really get 33 mph?
High miles a problem?
Any suggestions?

I think a 2 door hatch with sunroof is in my future.

zx3 vs. zx5 is really just a preference thing. the 4 door hatch gives you a lot of versatility, the four doors of the sedan with the space/look of the hatch. and 33 mpg...highway driving you can get close to it, or maybe more driving sensibly. i probably get around 30-31 on the interstate. i can't speak for the high miles, though i can't think of seeing too much out of the ordinary on the forums, but at 35xxx miles i've had zero problems. and i drive like a moron, lol.

SVT Focus is the deffinition of cool, milage is a bit lower say 26-30 but I too drive like a moron lol

oh and high milage isn't always a problem just depends on the previous owner and how it was taken care of, although the later models of each version do tend to have less "issues"

Welcome to FF! I am completely biased like MOST people here, but the Focus is one badass car. It's cheap, pretty reliable, gets great gas mileage and looks great. The hatches have so much room in them if you need it haul stuff as well. I love my hatch. I'll get rid of it someday, but not for a very very long time.

I have a 2003 ZX3. I get about 28-29 MPG in mixed driving. Probably low 30's on the highway. Gas mileage could be better, in my opinion. The engines last a long time, so no worries there. They also handle pretty well.
