is the spark gone

I think im growing tired of my girl,,is this possible? ive lost interest in her? i use to be concerned about her apperance, now she might go 2-3 weeks without me bathing her.i use to wash her at least 1-2 times a week,,been 2 months since a waxing,,,hadnt pampered her with anything new in months either,,i do just enough to keep her hanging on. sometimes i feel like i neglect her,, shes always been good to me,we have covered a lot of miles together.she use to always catch my eye,but know i can walk by her and not even glance in her direction,,,maybe i should cut her lose,,send her on her way to find someone else to love her like i once did,,,any suggestions on how to rekindle the spark,,or is it time to move on to something new,,,its a major decision i have to make....and yes i am talking about my car,,shes my girl. my wife, well shes the love of my life,,and ill never grow old of her,, just with her..

Yeah man you know what? I took my CAI off and put the SVT air box on because...well first of all I didn't want to worry about hydrolock anymore, and second I wanted to see if it was different, but mainly because I am giving my car to my gf...and when I did that it changed, I learned more about the engine and felt more confident working on the car, and now I'm giving it up only to get an SVTF though .

Try doing a modification and maybe it will wake you back up to it. If not...find something else to spark your interest!

Go with some sort of forced induction mod. You'll be laughing maniacly.

I've been bored with every one of my cars after about two years until I got this one. In a few short months, I'm working on year number 5 with no plans on selling or trading it. Usually when I got to the point where you are now, I just sold it. Looking back, had I modded my cars, I probably would have kept them longer.

I probably haven't owned my Focus longer than many of you have (about 2 years, if you count the first ZX3 I wrecked), but I think I have an idea of what the original poster is talking about. It's not just about performance either. Sure you can increase your HP or slap on some exterior mods, but there's really only so much you can do to change a car.

I haven't quite gotten sick of my Focus yet, but I'm definitely not obsessed with it as much as I used to be either. And I don't think any one particular model or style of car can be blamed for that. It's just human nature for us to get sick of things we own after a while, and to have that urge to try out something newer and different.

Most of us are probably still fanatics because there simply aren't that many better options out there in the market today. Seriously... the 2008 Focus? What a joke! I don't know about anyone else, but I still treasure my ZX3 because even most of today's cars (including "upper class" ones) can't compete with its overall value in design and features.

Like everyone else I also want a little bit of change. But I just don't feel that now is the right time for that. My reasons for wanting that change are probably different from other peoples' too...

For starters my Focus has built up a few imperfections through regular wear and tear usage: scratches in the paint, chips in the windshield, and a banged up suspension from the shitty Pennsylvania roads and winters. It still runs beautifully and I'm not complaining by any means, but the "brand new" charm is definitely lost. I don't see that as a bad thing either, because I'm nowhere near overprotective or obsessive about the car as I used to be (which CAN be a burden if it's something that's always on your mind).

I'm also thinking that I should go for a slightly heavier car next time. While the fuel economy advantages you gain from owning a light car is great, driving along at freeway speeds on a gusty day isn't so much fun. I nearly spun out into a ditch in a snow storm last winter, because the wind gusts literally jerked my Focus around violently to the point of losing control. The funny part? I was only going 50 on the right lane (with brand new tires) and a semi was right on my ass pressuring me to go faster! NOT FUN!!!

But yeah other than that I love this car and I'll probably stick with it for a long while. In my opinion it's still fun as hell to drive, and I'm only talking about a stock ZX3 with an automatic transmission. And I know that'll cause a lot of eyes to roll, but it's true when you're comparing it with most other cars of its class. When I hop into a rental or any of my friends' cars (most with V6), it just feels BORING and sluggish compared to my Focus.

So at least it's still fun to drive, and I think that's the most important thing to have. If you've lost that feeling, then yeah maybe it's time to move on to something different. Personally when I lost my first Focus to an accident and was stuck driving a '95 Nissan Maxima for six months, I knew right away how badly the Focus was much better in every way possible.

I've owned my focus for 5 years and the key is to do something to it every year.. Even is its some small like changing the rear tail light or adding an intake but do something mod that focus... there are tons of mods for the focus pick a couple you like and tackle them..

Hell when i turn my focus on in the mornings it returns the favor...
