Lightbulb AWD conversion

This is a two-part post: 1) how much, realistically, would you pay for an AWD conversion kit? It'd have the AWD transaxle, as well as the driveshaft and rear setup. 2) Does anyone know of a 4cyl Ford made in the last, oh, 20 years?

Ford Cosworth Escort
Ford Coswoth Siearra (I think)
Jaguar X-Type (not sure if Europe had a 4-cylindar version or not)
Ford Escape

Good luck finding a suitable transmission.

Burton racing sells a AWD MTX75. Burtonpower.com
Sales@burtonpower.com

Ask for a cataloge. They are very fast in getting it to you, and it is an awesum book. Lots of history of English Fords. And lots of parts. The rest can be fabricated pretty easy. You could even look to some 90's thunderbirds for the rear axle set up to keep the focus independant suspension

Ford escape even uses the same engine 2.0 zetec, but we are talking about ALOT of work, probably more than its worth, I hate to say it , but wrx's are getting cheap used, and would be less trouble and money by the time you are done....if you are good and have the lifts and a donor car CHEAP, it could be done...

ok, so is the AWD tranny a manual, or is it only the push-button auto?

if you are talking about the Escape, then only the auto is available.

if you are talking Jag X-Type, then it has an AWD manual available

not to mention the Jag rear suspension looks an aweful lot like the Focus in design (except for the diff and axles of course)

btw, here are a couple of links to the Jag X-type components

Jag X-Type rear suspension

Jag X-Type drivetrain

Escape 4-bangers can be had with a 5spd manual.
The V6 is the one that only comes with an AT.
