07 Focus ST

I can't decide between the ZX5 and the ST. Is the ST more fun to drive? What type of cargo room does it have? And, is $16500 a good price?

The ST has all the performance stuff, 2.3L 151hp engine, performance suspension, four wheel disk brakes, etc.

The ZX5 has the 2.0L 136hp engine. The suspension is "softer" than the ST, and only the SES model has a rear sway bar. Rear brakes are drums, you can't get disk brakes on the rear.

The ZX5 has more cargo room because you can drop the rear seats.

The ST only comes with a manual tranny, no auto availiable.

The ZX5 will get better gas mileage.

Is the $16,500 the ST price? If it is, that's decent for an ST.

The price is for the ST. I can get a ZX5 SES for $15,300. It has most options with the exception of the auto tranny and the sap package. I need to get something to travel in. I am leaning more towards the ZX5, just for the room. I do like the ST though. There is about a $20 per month difference is the payments. What would you guys do?

The ST's suspension isn't much to write home about (SVT springs with stock struts), and I don't think you'll notice the lack of the rear disc that much...plus its getting easier and easier to find SVT rear discs in junkyards now and the swap is pretty simple, if that's what you're after. The 2.3 engine is really the only selling point I'd look at over the ZX5, everything else on the ST is pretty much the same.

ST all the way!! Don't sell yourself short for twenty bucks a month...you will regret it in the long run. Personally the ST Focus was the only option for me, the 2.3 was the best engine ever built for the Focus.

yep I didn't consider anything but the ST. The car has a good amount of room. The trunk is quite large due to the control blade rear suspension. Great car

ST all the way. You won't regret it. BTW I got my ST for 15k but they had a bunch of rebates and such.
