ATX trans Coolers

Quick question, I have a B&M supercooler external ATX cooler on my Contour for the simple reason of the ATX being crap in the V6 Contour. Would you think the same cooler would help keep the ATX in my Focus cool? I am planning on upgrading the Torque Convertor and maybe the trans cooler. With a few mods, I may end up going with a 50 shot.

You planning on hauling heavy stuff behind your Focus and/or Contour?

No. The inefficiency in the two transmissions is caused by a number of things. One of these is the inability to keep cool. The Contour tranny is especially vulnerable. I was wondering on the ATX in the Foc. Trans coolers aren't just for hauling heavy loads.

The answer is 'no' the Focus does not need one, and I would be surprised if any passenger car needed a trans cooler, and if it does, you are right, that is a very poor design.

I should clarify that I know jack about automatics beyond the one I had in a 69 El Camino, and last weekend I dealt with a guy who hauls big boats and his old Dodge had a tranny temp monitor and I asked him about it. He said it rarely gets hot except under extreme load up hills.

It is a common occurance for the ATX in the Contour that is mated with the V6, to be rebuilt a couple of times during its life.
